We have so enjoyed being part of their journey and hope they have made many wonderful memories. We wish for them a fulfilling and exciting journey ahead!
Farewell to some of our staff - This year, we bid a sad farewell to teaches Zoe, Tylah, Tamara, Kym, Liam, Kate, Jacoba, Verity and Jacqui with most of them heading off to new adventures in other schools. I know each of them have very much enjoyed their time at Malibu, and have been great team mates who have been dedicated to the learning journeys of your children. We know the last two weeks will be a time of mixed emotions though we wish them well for a great start to their new school year and hope we may see them back one day.
2025 Class lists - We are fortunate to be welcoming in a team of experienced teachers from some of our local Ed Support Centres and from the UK, and have nearly finalised our teaching staff for next year. Your child's current teacher will be sending home information about their new class, teachers and EAs in the last week of school, to help with transitions for next year. We encourage you to use the resources at home as much as possible and hope there won't be too many last minute staff changes! Thank you for your help in supporting a good start to the year.
Colour Run tomorrow - Please send in the 'opt out' forms if you do not wish for your child to participate. We hope they will wear white (not the best whites, please!) and a change of clothes.
P&C Raffle - If you would like the chance of winning some incredible prizes and donating to the P&C at the same time, please donate to the P&C Colour Run raffle online. Get in quick! Raffle drawn tomorrow – and we thank the P&C and our families and friends for your ongoing support! Fundraising Page | Malibu School Colour Explosion! 2024
School time changes - The School Board discussed and approved a change to start school at 8.50am and finish at 2.50pm to start in the new school year. This will hopefully assist with staff collaborative time and take some pressure off families in the morning. School Bus Services have been advised and will
Booklists and Contributions for 2025 - Please find below information to help for next year. As always, a copy of these documents is available on our website and 2025 important dates will be located in our newsletters, on our website school calendar page and via the calendar button in the Schoolzine app.
Taking leave - Friday will be my last day before heading on Long Service Leave with our Middle School Deputy Heather leading in the principal role.
Before I leave for the year, I would like to share my sincere thanks to the staff of this wonderful school for what they bring to the lives of your children each day. At a time when all schools are struggling with staffing and the school environment appears to be more complex, our staff continue to demonstrate incredible care, compassion and a desire to be their best for the shared purpose in service of our students and families. Education is a right, though to be an educator is a choice, and I proudly applaud them for their choice and dedicated contribution to making a difference each day.
To each and all, I wish you a wonderful end to the term and a safe, joyous holiday break and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
Kind regards
Merrilee
News from the Board
The School Board met earlier this week. We are really pleased to have a full team of parent representatives and look forward to bringing more information about each of them next year.
This is my first year as the School Board Chair, stepping in when Leanne moved to the position of Community Representative. As the year ends, I would like to thank each of the teachers, EAs, support staff and leaders for the work they do for our children. I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of our School Board members, who discuss matters impacting our school and provide ideas about the things that matter to us.
I would also like to acknowledge our P&C, which has grown under the leadership of President Kellie Down, and the parents and carers who have been giving up many hours to support the students and school. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
Next year I will be summarising the achievements and activities of Malibu for 2024, for presentation at our second 2025 meeting - which will be open to all families. I hope you will be able to join us.
I wish all a good holiday and look forward to seeing you next year.

Junior 3
Junior Three have been worked hard for Market Day on the 15th of November 2024. We will also be celebrating classmate Erik’s 7th birthday on the same day – How exciting! We showcased our products under our Enterprise name ‘Frog and Frames’. The students voted on the name, the prices and the products as well as making all of it. The Year Ones were at the stall, running rotating shifts on the day, and we enjoyed having you all come to visit us on the day! All their wonderful hard work this year has paid off.
Thank you all for your continuing support of our Future Without Limits!

Senior 1
What a fabulous year S1 have had. We have visited various locations while on excursion, such as The House of Honey, Kwinana Adventure Park for a splash in the water play area, Amaze, and saw many snakes and lizards at Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Centre. Senior camp was lots of fun, the most enjoyable part was visiting Outback Splash where we slid down waterslides and swam in the pools throughout the day. We still have a few adventures coming up before we finish school and graduate in week 8. We have a class lunch at The Dome, swimming at Aqua Jetty, Fishing in Mandurah and possibly another excursion or two.
We were ready for Market Day with a variety of items our class has handmade, Bird feeders, suncatchers, mobiles and our very own artist has created notebooks for sale.
We have completed our ASDAN, VET and Pre-Lim programs for the year, and are happily winding down our year with fun and shared memories of our time together.
S1 wish you all a very Merry Christmas, safe holidays and a Happy 2025.

Senior 2
S2 has had a busy second Semester with excursions, preparing their product for Market day and work placements. Students have adapted well to changes in teachers. The class attended the ESSN Sports Carnival, participating in games such as tunnel ball, flag races, high jump and netball with students from other schools at Byford Secondary College. Students caught public transport to the Mandurah Disability Expo and explored the stalls. In the lead up to Market Day students have created and distributed posters and designed logos as well as putting labels on the products. The class have been working hard to create their windchimes to sell and have made lavender play dough. Students and staff are looking forward to Navy Day and graduation.

Physical Education
Physical Education lessons are always full of energy, activity and enthusiasm.
The beautiful weather has allowed students to get out on the school bike track and outdoor playground. I am always so impressed with their enjoyment of the sun and natural surroundings.
In the Junior area, we have been focussing on safely transitioning to the PE hall and following instructions to move our bodies in different ways.
We played a variety of games focussing on learning the to follow the rules of the PE Hall, and safely using the equipment. We have been experiencing obstacle courses and skills development activities focussing on the development of our locomotor Fundamental Movement Skills which include - walking, jumping, crawling and climbing.
Students in Middle and Senior have been practicing using a variety of different sporting equipment. They have been learning new skills on how to participate with their peers especially when using the equipment for each game. They have enjoyed trying tennis, basketball, croquet, soccer and darts. Exploring a variety of games to peak interest and develop skills. Students have also been enjoying learning and playing Cricket. We will be looking at developing our ‘game play’ further next semester.
Some senior classes are loving their dance warm ups and practising safe use of sporting equipment whilst how to share and take turns when it’s required to do so. During our Yogacise sessions S2 are becoming proficient at using their breathing techniques and practising stretching exercises.
