Networks and Partnerships
During the year, we collaborate, plan and participate in activities and competitions with other schools and members of the community to showcase our skills, increase our school spirit, build our sense of community and belonging whilst enjoying the opportunity to meet new friends.
Network Partnerships
Malibu School is an active member of the Education Support South Network (ESSN) which is a collaborative of 24 Education Support Schools and Centres. Involvement with the ESSN has included the planning and delivery of annual learning conferences for staff, professional learning workshops and collaborative community events for students.
As members of the Peron Education Support School Alliance (PESA) and Peron Alliance of Curriculum and Teaching (PACT) Networks, we leverage our combined leadership and staff expertise to progress strategic planning, curriculum development, staff training, resource distribution to maximise quality learning opportunities for our students.
Malibu School and Kolbe Catholic College Glee Club
Led by Malibu School’s specialist Arts teacher, our combined Glee Club has gained a reputation for high quality performances that engage and uplift every audience. Students rehearse at Malibu School once a week and sing, sign and dance to popular music, giving their all as they develop appreciation for music and performance, and for each other. The Glee Club have performed at Telethon and soon for the Western Australian Government School Music Society (WAGSMS) series.
Communication Circle
Each Friday, students from Safety Bay Senior High School visit our senior students to engage in a range of popular social activities. These sessions are highly valued and enjoyed, as is the level of two-way engagement and learning that students from both schools gain in spending quality time with each other.
The Rockingham Community Shed for Men
A long-standing partnership with The Rockingham Community Shed for Men has supported students at Malibu School through the donation of fine motor / sensory boards and garden benches. A weekly hands-on session led by volunteers from the program, provides our senior school students with valuable tool skills through the creation of items such as bird feeders, wooden baskets and insect houses.
ESSN Senior School Spring Ball
In collaboration with our ESSN schools, our senior students attend a formal school ball, held in a Perth hotel, each year. This is a social event highlight that celebrates our young adults and offers an authentic opportunity to build self-esteem and identity.
Focus On Ability Short Film Awards
In collaboration with students from Safety Bay Senior High School, Malibu School senior students participate in short film making for entry each year. This partnership resulted in a 2017 finalist recognition and continues to bring rich learning experiences for students of both schools.
PESA Swimming Carnival
This annual interschool event for all ages is held annually at the Rockingham Aqua Jetty and offers students the opportunity to participate in an inclusive swimming competition, supported by staff. Spectators are always welcome to this enjoyable and community building day.
PESA WACA Cricket Carnival
Students across the PESA network are invited to an inclusive cricket competition at the WACA, led by experienced cricket legends. This friendly competition ensures maximum engagement and enjoyment, while celebrating school pride, meeting new friends and focusing on ability.
HMAS Stirling, Garden Island, Royal Australian Navy
A long-standing partnership and strong support from the Officers and Ratings from HMAS Stirling has seen the establishment of our celebrated Annual Navy Day, involvement in our Colour Explosion fundraising events, representation during our annual ANZAC service, generous donations of resources and playground equipment and ongoing support in maintaining our grounds. This valued partnership strengthens opportunities for students and provides meaningful connections across our broader community.
Woolworths, Waikiki
Our long-standing and valued partnership with Woolworths, Waikiki supports our student’s daily Breakfast Club and the opportunity for senior student work placement. In addition, Woolworths, Waikiki have continued to support many of our whole-school community events and have contributed to our whole-school improvement agendas through participation in School Board discussions.
Rotary Club of Rockingham
Rockingham Rotary members have been continuous supporters of Malibu School students through the presentation of awards and book prizes and attendance at assemblies.
